Shekhargouda Kallanagouda Vadageri (50) of Kandagal in Hungund taluk of Bagalkot district and Shanmukha Ramanna Veshagar (14) of Mundagod in Uttar Kannada district are the dead. Prasad of Nyasargi sustained injuries in the incident.
Sirsi, Haliyal and Mundagod in Uttar Kannada received moderate to heavy rain on Thursday. Shirahatti, (Gadag dist), Gadag, Kotamuchagi and Narayanpur in Gulbarga district have also witnessed downpour with hailstorm.
Rains also lashed parts of Badami in Bagalkot district, Shiggaon, Savanur and Guttal in Haveri district.
A house was partially collapsed due to rains at Kudlagi in Bellary district. Three oxen-one at Kudlagi and two at Sandur in Bellary district died due to lightning.
Ripponpet pummelled
Heavy rain accompanied with wind and lightening lashed various parts of Shimoga district on Thursday.
Hosanagar-Sagar road was blocked as a tree was uprooted near Mavinahole.
A house was damaged by lightening in Ripponpet. Rain battered Ripponpet and surrounding villages for more than a hour due to which telephone service and power supply were affected.
Sorab town also received rain for more than a hour in afternoon as well as in the evening. Rain also lashed Sagar and Tirthahalli while cloudy weather prevailed in Shimoga, Bhadravati and Shikaripur for most part of the day.
