10k cases cleared in 4 years: Upa Lokayukta

Last Updated 19 January 2018, 17:06 IST

Upa Lokayukta Subhash B Adi on Thursday said, "The Lokayukta is working efficiently and more than 10,000 pending cases have been cleared in the last four years. The number of cases which was 14,000 four years ago, has come down to 4,000 now."

Addressing media here Adi said that the allegations that Lokayukta has remained as an organisation to just receive complaints is not true. "We have been using the total power of law enforcement to prevent corruption. We have recommended punishment to several corrupt officials. While the government has responded positively to a few cases, some have not received the expected response. The complaints lodged with the Lokayukta are being verified and cleared on priority," he said.

"The Lokayukta has considered the cases pertaining to the encroachment of government lands, seriously. Already, 1,500 unauthorised khatas have been cancelled. There are many such cases of encroachment of government lands by private parties across the state. The Lokayukta has recommended stern action against the government officials, who are involved in illegal activities by creating fake khatas," Adi said.
