A youth died and his friend was wounded in a stabbing attack by three unidentified men outside a bar in Ullal, West Bengaluru, around 12.30 am on Saturday.
Arun Krishna and Dhillon Somaiah, both 22 and residents of Mallathahalli, had come to Maruthi Bar and Restaurant at Ullal Road Cross to have a drink. As they sat down at a table, a group of three occupying another table started staring them. Krishna and Somaiah took offence. A quarrel soon broke out, prompting the bar staff to yank both the groups out.
As Krishna and Somaiah stepped out, one of the men pulled out a knife and stabbed Krishna in the chest. Somaiah was also assaulted when he tried to intervene. The three men fled the spot soon after. The bar staff called the police.
Which station?
But even as Krishna lay in a pool of blood on the opposite side of the road outside the bar, the police had an internal dispute over the jurisdiction of the murder spot. It wasn't immediately clear which police station should open a case - Byadrahalli police in Bengaluru Rural or Jnanabharathi police in Bengaluru city commissionerate.
Finally, the Jnanabharathi police registered a case of murder and started hunting for the suspects. They are reviewing the CCTV footage of the bar.
