"Don't worry, I am there." These were the first words of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who rushed back from London, to his son Karti when they met in a Delhi court for the first time after the latter's arrest in the INX Media case.

Chidambaram  was in London to attend the high profile Oxford Student's Union debate on motion that "this House regrets the Partition of India" but returned cancelling all his engagements there after hearing about Karti's arrest. Karti was arrested at Chennai airport on Wednesday when he flew down from the United Kingdom.

Karti's mother Nalini, also a senior lawyer, was also present in the courtroom. As soon as she entered the courtroom, Nalini walked straight to Karti and sat beside him.

Karti was also heard complaining to CBI lawyers that the dinner served to him on Wednesday night and breakfast on Thursday morning were not good.

During the arguments over CBI application for his custody for 14 days, it came to light that Karti spent the first night in custody in a cardiac care unit on doctor's advice though he did not complain about any uneasiness.

Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared for the CBI, told the court that a medical examination was conducted in the night. He admitted that Karti did not complain any uneasiness but the doctor sent him to cardiac care. Arguing for his custody, Mehta added, "Karti was brought to CBI only at 7.50 AM and he got ready only at 10 AM. So was not questioned enough. So we are seeking 14 days of police custody".
