Man arrested for sexual assault bid on three students

The Banashankari police have arrested a 20-year-old man who attempted to sexually assault three schoolgoing girls on the Kanakapura Main Road.

The suspect, Abhishek, a local resident, was arrested based on a complaint lodged by an eyewitness Ravi Kumar, the police said.

Kumar in his complaint said that on Saturday early morning when he was opening his shop, he heard screams of the girls. When he rushed to the spot near the girls' hostel, he noticed that a man had blocked the way for three seventh standard girl students in uniforms and was also dragging one of them.

Kumar intervened and rescued them and informed the police, who rushed to the spot and arrested Abhishek.

The suspect has been booked under sections of POCSO and was produced before a magistrate, who remanded him in judicial custody.

Since the girls are in shock, the police are yet to get their statements.

Further investigations are underway.
