Litterateur Bola Chitharanjandas Shetty will be the convention president

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) Mayor Rajani Dugganna said that Litterateur Bola Chitharanjandas Shetty will be the convention president. The convention president will be taken in a procession from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office at 8.30 am and later, the flag hoisting ceremony will be held in front of the Town Hall at 9 am, Mayor said. Noted writer and former State KSP Prof Sa Shi Marulaiah will inaugurate the convention at 9.30 am. Former State KSP President Harikrishna Punarooru will preside over the inaugural ceremony, she added.  

Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will inaugurate the exhibition while Assembly Opposition Chief Whip K Abhayachandra Jain will open the book stall. Meanwhile, Mangalore MLA U T Khader will inaugurate the music instrument exhibition, Mangalore University Deputy Registrar Prabhakar Neermarga will inaugurate photo exhibition and Litterateur Prema Bhat will release books. Chief Hydrographer of the Government of India Vice Admiral Bola Radhakrishna Rao, District-in-Charge Minister J Krishna Palemar, Nitte University Chancellor Dr M Shantharam Shetty, Mangalore South MLA N Yogish Bhat and Mangalore Management Association President M Shekhara Poojari will be the guests, she explained.

Organising Committee General Secretary Ganesh Amin Sankamar said that a seminar on ‘Modernity and Life’ will be conducted at 11 am while another session on the theme ‘Literature and Culture’ will commence at 1 pm. A special programme on ‘Literature in Film Songs’ will be held at 12.30 pm, he added.

Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva will preside over the valedictory ceremony at 5 pm. Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj, Group Capt D C Bhandari, MCC Commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash, St Aloysius PU College Principal Prof John Edward D’Silva and Litterateur Srinivas Bhat Kateelu will be the guests. SDM Business Management College Director Dr K Devaraj will deliver the valedictory address, Sankamar said adding that various cultural programmes will also be organised as part of the programme.
