By promoting Karnataka as a tourism-friendly destination under the theme of 'Year of the Wild', in 2017- 18, the state has seen a rise in tourists.
According to the department, in 2017, Jungle Lodges and Resorts (JLR) saw a 9.6% rise in footfall compared to 2016- 17 and an overall 98% increase in occupancy. There has also been an increase in the revenue of JLRs by 5%.
The 'Year of the Wild' campaign has received a positive response.
Through the campaign, the occupancy has gone up across most properties. The overall bed nights of all the properties of JLR has increased by 9.6% as compared to 2016-17.
The newly started Jungle Camps and Trails aimed at the budget traveller has also got a tremendous response. Here, the occupancy has gone up to 98%. Overall, the revenues of JLR have increased by 5%.
The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation properties have also seen an increase in occupancy rate. The overall income from hotels has increased by 18.97% in the first three quarters of 2017- 18 as compared to the same period of 2016- 17. The occupancy percentage also went up from 20.44% to 43.7% in 2017- 18.
With the overwhelming success of the 'Year of the Wild' positioning, the tourism department is kick-starting 2018 with a new theme 'Script Your Adventure'.
