Incessant rains continue to lash DK, Udupi

 In fact, the heavy rains on Saturday have brought alive the memories of yesteryears when it used to rain cats and dogs for days together.
Though the rains have brought relief to the citizens of coastal districts, it has also brought miseries to them. Several low-lying areas have been inundated with flash floods.
At the same time, though there are four more days for the ban on fishing, fishermen have already started to anchor their boats.
According to a press release, the Dakshina Kannada district has received 328.82 mm of rain till June 6. The taluk-wise rain report between June 1 and June 6 is as follows. Figures in brackets indicate last year’s rains.
Bantwal - 135.8 mm (26.8 mm); Belthangady - 118.52 mm (2.91 mm); Mangalore - 102.94 mm (67.8 mm); Puttur - 104 mm (13.6 mm); and Sullia - 80.6 mm (86.8 mm).

The district administration has geared up to face any eventualities in the district, according to Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj.

In Udupi

Damages to the property have been reported from several areas in Udupi. However, no loss of life has been reported on Saturday.
Udupi district registered an average rainfall of 110.4 mm on Saturday alone.
The taluk-wise rainfall is as follows: Udupi - 142.2 mm; Karkala - 120.6 mm; and              Kundapur - 68.4 mm, according       to meteorological department.
