PU confusion prevails at BangaloreOne centres

Last Updated 08 May 2010, 19:11 IST

The officials from the department directed parents and students to BangaloreOne centre. However, some parents said that there was no coordination between the Department and the BangaloreOne centres in providing the forms.

Gururaj Rao, who came to collect the form to apply for a photocopy of his daughter's answersheet, said that the BangaloreOne centre near his house did not have any forms for photocopy request.

A resident of BTM Layout, Rao said, “I have come all the way from there to get the form from the department in Malleswaram. However, here the officials say that they don't have any forms and that I have to collect it from BangaloreOne. I think, this decision has not been conveyed to BangaloreOne centres,” he lamented, adding that even getting the department's number is a Herculean task. Rao represented 10 other parents who wanted the form for photocopy of answer papers.

Some parents and students also came with demand drafts not knowing that they could pay in cash directly at BangaloreOne. For instance, Sumi Nair, who wanted photocopy of her brother's answersheet, said that she had to make a demand draft (DD) as the form asked for DD number and details.

"We came to the department to submit the form but they have directed us to BangaloreOne. When I collected the form on Friday from the counter in the Department, they did not inform me about this," she said.

Besides this, students were also worried whether they would get the photocopies in time. Shambhavi, a science student, said that she paid for photocopies for two subjects on Saturday. However, the woman at BangaloreOne Centre counter told her that she would get them within a week from May 15, the last date to apply for photocopy. “If the photocopies of answersheets take a week to arrive then we would be left with no time to apply for revaluation, which ends of May 22,” she said.

Officials at the PU department, however, informed that photocopies will reach the students within a week from the date they have applied for it. Department director Shankarnarayanan said that the procedure for photocopies would start on Monday and in case of delay, sufficient time would be given to these students to apply for revaluation or retotaling.

Meanwhile, staff at BangaloreOne revealed that they received a total of 500 applications on Friday.
