Since the Congress and JD(S) have joined hands during last elections, frequent fight had taken place between the BJP supporters and the coalition members. This time, the coalition broke due to internal differences and the candidates of both the parties are contesting independently bringing in a triangular fight.

While BJP is striving hard to get some new GPs into its fold, the Congress and JD(S) are also trying to retain all the GPs which they had won over last time.

Representatives of Pragathipara Sanghatane K L Vasu, Yashodha, Ramamurthy are said to be contesting independently this GP election. Dharanendra, Pradeep, Badru are some of the independent candidates contesting in Samse who are causing nightmare to candidates backed by political parties.

Mahesh from Kalasa and Dharmendra Shetty from Hornadu are rebel candidates from Congress while Srikanth is the rebel candidate of BJP. Kalmakki-Mavinakere constituency from where Congress leader Kumbaladike Sheshagiri is contesting is a significant one. A close fight has been formed between Sheshagiri faction and JD(S) backed candidate. Both groups are said to be luring voters with money.

It is clear that many of the candidates are contesting the election with hope to make some money under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Some are seeking votes in the same of efficient governance, which is a good sign.
However, one will have to wait and watch as to who the voters will vote for.
