Last Updated 20 May 2010, 18:18 IST

In an interlocutory application, the petitioner has said that the State had failed to implement the March 23 High Court order to supply  two hours of additional power to the rural areas in the State and a contempt petition is still pending before the High Court. He said that when the power utilities has submitted before the Court that it is unable to implement the High Court order, how can the Government invite the global investors to invest.

Appealing to restrain the Government from conducting the meet on June 3 and 4, the petitioner said that if the investment comes, people have to undergo more hardships as the livelihood will be affected.

He submitted that it is not feasible to conduct the meet, when the industries and the farmers in the State are deprived of regular power supply.

He pointed out that the State is all set to spend Rs 1,000 crore for the meet which can be
utilised to upgrade the power systems to ensure quality power.

The division bench comprising Justice Billappa and Justice V Manohar has adjourned the matter.

The State has been directed to file an affidavit.
