Speaking to press persons, on Monday, the Minister said that he had received about 25-30 complaints of bribery to issue appointment orders to those selected for the posts of lecturers in government first grade colleges.

The government has recruited 2,550 lecturers through KPSC. The final list of candidates selected for the posts has been forwarded to the Department of Collegiate Education for issuing appointment orders.

The Minister had withheld the appointment process following a complaint from a few MLCs that among the selected many had obtained MPhil degrees from universities unrecognised by the University Grants Commission. There were complaints that Alagappa University and Vinayaka Mission University based in Tamil Nadu were not recognised by the UGC.

The MLCs had demanded that such candidates who obtained MPhil from those universities should not be given appointment orders. However, the Minister ordered to continue the appointment process after the UGC confirmed that the universities were recognised.
The Minister said that taking the  advantage of delay in issuing orders, many started to demand money from MPhil degree holders assuring them that they would somehow manage to get them appointment orders.

“The government is committed to issue orders all those selected by the KPSC. If any of the selected candidates are involved in the act of demanding money, their appointment orders would be withheld”, he said.

He said that the public can send in their complaints either through SMS or email or letter to his office. He would personally go through all complaints and hold an inquiry to find who all are involved in such acts.
