HC issues notice over delay in site allotment

Last Updated 08 June 2009, 19:15 IST

The petitioners, M S Bhargavi and Shashikala, had moved the High Court against the Society, questioning the delay in allotment of sites to the members, who had been waiting for the last two decades.

In their petition, they alleged that the Society had allotted sites free of cost to Anitha Kumaraswamy, wife of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and S M Shankar, brother of former chief minister S M Krishna, while they were denied sites.

The petitioners said they were members of the society since 1994 and had paid up to Rs 3 lakh, but so far, the site has remained a dream following several disputes.  Though the government made a bulk allotment of sites following the order by the then Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, during the meeting dated October 27, 2007, the society decided to allot sites based on seniority of membership.

It is cheating

The petitioners, further alleging the society of allotting sites to relatives of former chief ministers, said that the society was cheating members and sought directions for probe either by the Corps of Detectives (CoD) or the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI).
Justice Mohan Shantanagowdar, who heard the matter, has ordered notices to the Society as well as the State government.
