Emergency Cabinet meeting today

Last Updated 31 May 2010, 17:37 IST

Top official sources told Deccan Herald that the cabinet may give its seal of approval to the imposition of the President’s rule in the state which has seen continued political uncertainty for long now. It is, however, not known whether the Centre would favour President’s rule and dissolution of the Assembly or keeping the Assembly in suspended animation.

Jharkhand governor MOH Farooq on Monday evening sent a report on the political situation to the Union Home Ministry. Farooq sent the report to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram after consultations with political parties in the wake of resignation of Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren. The contents of the Governor’s report was, however, not known immediately.

After the BJP chose to withdraw support to the Soren government, the Congress on Monday said it was not willing to make efforts to form government.
Sources indicated that the cabinet would also discuss the issue of CBI probe into the Kharagpur railway accident in which nearly 150 passengers died last week.
