Tyagi (22), a former student of Acharya Institute of Technology, found an innovative method to earn money. He was arrested from Garuda Mall, while he was on a shopping spree using stolen credit cards.
He had taken up a room in Peenya and was staying in the city. The police said that he had claimed of having a short working stint at an MNC in the city and was currently scouting for a placement.
Tyagi, a native of Ghaziabad, UP, frequently visited Wonder La, an amusement park, near Hejjala on Mysore Road and hired lockers.
Duplicate keys
He managed to make duplicate keys of the lockers and during his next visit, he opened the lockers and robbed only credit cards.
The accused tampered with the driving licence and used it as a proof of identity.
The police said Tyagi used to make a photocopy of his driving licence and using whitener replaced the credit card holder's name. He would then photocopy and produce the same at the time of purchase.
On Tuesday, he ran out of luck while he was buying an expensive jewellery at a showroom in Garuda Mall. The shopkeeper got suspicious and alerted the police.
More than a dozen credit cards, duplicate keys, fake documents were seized from him. However, it is still not clear how much money he had garnered using this technique.
