210 kg ganja recovered, three arrested

The arrested are Bannamalipangi (30), Rabeendrakila (20) and Moogujani (25), all from Malkangiri district in Orissa. The ganja costs Rs 12 lakh in Indian market, while it would cost Rs 30 lakh in international market, said police.

The police arrested them on a tip off at Banappa Park when they were waiting for a customer in a car. They told the police they bought the ganja from Rakesh and Narasimha in Orissa. They wanted to sell it to Shafiulla and Ibrahim in Bangalore.

One held for selling ivory

The Cottonpet police arrested a person, when he was trying to sell four ivory worth Rs 12 lakh, near City Railway Station. Police arrested K Nagaraj (30) on a tip off. They secured him for questioning when he was trying to sell the ivory kept in a bag at a parking lot near the railway station. Nagaraj spilled the beans when the police grilled him.

Fake gadgets recovered

The CCB sleuths raided a video parlour and recovered fake electronic gadgets worth Rs 10 lakh. The arrested is Syed Rizwan from Benson Town.

The police raided Rizwan’s Video City in Hatawulla building near Abdul Kalam Azad Circle on DJ Halli Main Road. Rizwan had stored as many as 10,035 fake MP3s and DVDs, said the police.

Man hangs self

The 36-year-old provision store owner was found hanging from a tree in the Bangalore University campus on Monday morning, police said.

Police suspect Narayanswamy, a resident of Bhairaveshwarngar, Nagarbhavi, might have committed suicide on Friday evening or Saturday morning. Passersby alerted them on Monday.

Narayanaswamy, who had got married only last month, was suffering from a liver ailment for sometime, the police said. No death note was found. Jnanabharathi police have booked a case of unnatural death.

Businessman robbed

Three unidentified persons robbed a person of his gold chain worth Rs 35,000 in Kalasipalya police station limits in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident took place near Kalasipalya bus stop when the victim, R Muralidhar, a small time businessman, was returning home. He returned to the City from Tamil Nadu and got down at the bus stop.

The suspects followed him on a bike while he was proceeding towards his house in Mavalli. They threatened him at knifepoint point, snatched his chain and fled, the police said.
