Items worth Rs 1.75 lakh stolen from actor Om Puri's house

The incident came to light on Friday morning, when the actor’s son Ishaan visited their Nalanda building’s flat, which was ransacked, police said.

Om Puri has two houses and he resides in another house nearby while this flat was being used as store room, they added.

The actor’s wife claimed that cash of Rs 1 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 75,000 were missing from the flat.

“The door and windows were broken open, which suggests the thieves sneaked into the house either by breaking windows or the door,” Senior Inspector S Nalawade at Versova Police Station told. Neighbours had heard some noises in the actor’s house on Thursday night but they thought the Puri couple might have come back to their house, he said.
They suspect the involvement of Nepali watchman at the building, who has not been seen around ever since the incident occurred.
Nalawade said  a case has been registered and further probe was on.
