A fresh beginning

Carmel PU College, Basaveshwaranagar has been buzzing with activity for more than a week, with the students filing nominations and campaigning for the student council election.

The students recently elected their office bearers in a democratic fashion. Eva Saglani was elected as the president and Heena Khandelwal as the secretary of the college union.

During the investiture ceremony, the council members were officially inducted into their office of authority by Dr Gayathri Reddy, special officer, Visvesvaraya Technological University. In her presidential address, she urged the students to grab opportunities that came their way.  She also exhorted them to develop soft skills to procure jobs.

Leaders, she reminded, should be visionaries and torch bearers. She urged them to steer their friends and the institution towards excellence. The council shared their plans for the future and this fuelled the hopes and aspirations of the staff and students. Administrator Roshan Menezes administered the oath and the principal prayed for the leaders to have the strength to carry on their responsibilities. Achievers in the March 2016 examination were also felicitated on the occasion.
