With this, the long pending dreams are likely to be cherished soon. The CMC had submitted its proposal to the district administration which in turn has submitted to the Directorate of Civic Administration to be submitted to the Urban Development Department Secretary for approval. The CMC had already resolved to hand over the contract of constructing the private bus stand to City Pearl Group of Companies, Bangalore. “The bus stand will be constructed at a cost of Rs 17.45 crore. The CMC had agreed to hand over the contract to City Pearl Group of Companies on BOT basis. The company had assured to level the land within four months and complete the project within 2 years. The contract will be handed over to the private company as soon as we get permission from the State government,” said CMC President P D Ponnappa and Commissioner K Srikant Rao to Deccan Herald.

The proposed private bus stand will have parking facility for 52 buses at a time, one 3-star hotel, community hall, rest rooms, lodge, and a commercial complex. If everything goes as per the plan, then the private bus stand will be shifted to the new bus stand within two years. In the meantime, the Agriculture University has clarified that it will not come in the way of the construction of private bus stand in the proposed land. As an alternative to the three acre land, the government had decided to give eight acre land to the University near Ponnampet Forest College.

As per the original documents, 23.74 acre land belonging to the agriculture department was handed over to Agriculture University by the then Mysore government for carrying out research in agriculture in 1965.
