'Organised crimes under control'

Speaking to mediapersons here after inaugurating the police conference hall on Monday, he said the department had seized 42 arms from these arrested. The department has also made arrangements to collect information on the underworld activities in Mumbai, Bangalore and Gulf countries. Besides, the department had instructed the people and the businessmen to provide immediate information to the police on threat calls demanding ransom. Replying to a query, he said that the department had received several complaints on increasing crimes on robbing aged by diverting their attention in road.

Several persons have been arrested in such cases and later have been released. Public should be cautious of these people who are trying to dupe the people, he added.
Hosur said that the department will hand over the gold ornaments recovered in several theft cases within a week after obtaining court orders.

The Naxal activities in Udupi district and in the neighbouring Dakshina Kannada and Chikmagalur district are under control.

The menace has been effectively handled by the police with active cooperation by the local tribes. “We were successful in instilling confidence among people. The department had taken the Naxal menace on priority basis and as a challenge.”

Lauding Udupi Police for its infrastructure like communication network, modernisation of office and upgradation, he said that Udupi district has been referred as a nodal district in the police department in the entire state. It has done a good job in the areas like FIR registration, computerisation and help desk and training programmes, he added.

Hosur felicitated three police officers under Udupi SP jurisdiction with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 each and a citation on the occasion,. Several other officers and staff were also felicitated who discharged their duties efficiently during the recent Gram Pancahayat elections.
