CWG mess: PM intervenes to limit damage

At a high level meeting, the Prime Minister asked the concerned ministries, the government of the national capital and the Organizing Committee to complete all pending works through time-bound action plans and carry out a quality audit of the completed facilities," a statement issued here said.

"All the facilities must meet international standards," the release said.

The Prime Minister also asked the officials to punish those found guilty of financial irregularities. “Those found guilty should face severe and exemplary punishment," he said.

The meeting was attended by union Sports Minister M.S. Gill, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and other ministers concerned to discuss ways to control the damage over the controversies surrounding the Commonwealth Games and to ensure the event's smooth conduct Oct 3-14.
