The Court was irked by the delay of the State government in filing objections and pulled up the government counsel for not submitting the objections. The matter has been adjourned.
B Karibasamma (70) had filed a petition seeking permission to end her life, as she has been suffering from severe pain for the last few years.

The petitioner, a retired school teacher has been suffering due to slipped disc and diabetes and has been in severe pain since past 11 years. She had submitted that she had consulted several doctors, who had resorted to non-surgical, conservative methods, owing to the age of the petitioner. As she had not responded to the treatment, she sought the permission to end her life.

However, the government had stated that her condition was not incurable and had directed her to seek treatment at Nimhans. Later the petitioner filed an interlocutory application seeking permission to undergo treatment at Nimhans for her condition.
