He was speaking at the release of ‘Banayana’, the Kannada translation of Captain Gopinath’s autobiography ‘Simply Fly’ at Ravindra Kalakshetra here on Saturday. Senior journalist Vishveshwar Bhat has translated the book into Kannada.

Today, hundreds of youth are without jobs even after completin their education. Thus, there is a need to evolve a system which would provide employment to youth immediately after the completion of their studies, he said.

Several problems plague the agriculture sector. The tale of Gopinath, who hails from a farmer’s family and who now heads an aviation company, is not only thrilling but very inspiring, he added.

Youths in the rural areas are turning into naxalism, as they are frustrated owing to lack of development in the region. Instead, the youths should be optimistic and try overcome hurdles through concerted and determined efforts, observed Captain Gopinath.

“One should be creative and interested in whatever one does. Individuals can realise their dreams only when they develop a capacity to dream. My book deals with the ability to dream,” he added.

Jnanpith awardee Girish Karnad said Captain Gopinath represents the modern aspects of our Kannada culture. Transport Minister R Ashok said Gopinath was a role model, as he has succeeded in facilitating the poor to travel by air. Vishveshwar Bhat said Captain Gopinath’s autobiography should be treated as a Bible by all those who dream and are passionate about fulfiling it.
