Statements recorded on injection deaths

The team, during its visit to Kushalanagar Community Health Centre recorded the statement of the local doctor on the death of a woman. Sarita died after she was administered an injunction purchased from a medical shop.

Speaking with reporters at Suntikoppa, Health and Family Welfare Services Directorate deputy director Dr R Raju said the samples of the medicine responsible for the deaths will be sent for forensic examination. Action against guilty will be initiated on the basis of post mortem and forensic reports.

Meanwhile, the local people expressed their anguish at the poor state of affairs in the local hospital. They said majority of the people in the village were labourers and dependent on the hospital for their health needs. They urged to upgrade the health facility. An ex gratia of Rs one lakh was paid to the family of the victims from Chief Minister’s relief fund.
