The arrested are Yashraj (27) of Mulihithlu, Dhananjay Shetty (25) of Rajaseat road, Madikeri and Asseb Iqbal (24) of Mangalapady of Kasargod. Police have seized Maruthi car, two chains, mobilephones worth Rs 1.7 lakh from the accused. It was said that the trio were drug addicts. To purchase the drugs, they were into chain snatching. A case has been registered.
Man drowns
A man drowned after he accidentally fell from a boat while fishing in the sea. The dead has been identified as Narasimha Kundar. He had been to fishing in Kathyayini Anugraha fishing boat. Though he was rescued by his companions, he breathed his last before reaching the Gangolli mini port.
Student drowns
The body of one Roshan Deepak D’Cunha (20) who drowned in Thannirbavi beach on Saturday, was retrieved on Monday.
He was the II BBM student of St Aloysius College. It was said that he along with his five friends had been to the beach on Saturday and while playing in water, he accidentally drowned. Owing to fear, his companions neither informed the police nor the parents but smugly returned to their respective house. The incident came to light when the owner of the paying guest in which he was staying registered a complaint. As a mourning, the St Aloysius College had declared holiday on Monday.
