Single-window clearance for film shooting on cards

He was speaking at a function to felicitate the 56th and 57th national film award winners from the State.  He said the policy will include the screening of one national award winning film across the State. A single-window system for granting clearances and permissions for film shooting anywhere within the State will be announced soon, he added.

Speaking at the function, well-known director Girish Kasaravalli urged the state to popularise the national award winning films by organising a Chitratosava at district and taluk level to screen these films.

Kasaravalli said that people are interested in watching art movies but unfortunately cinema halls today screen only commercial movies because of their popularity.  He said the state has only 600 to 700 cinema halls which is less compared to neighbouring states like Andhra Pradesh which has close 3000 cinema halls and Tamil Nadu has 2000 cinema halls.

The state should offer subsidy towards the construction of cinema halls and make it mandatory to screen art film in these halls, Kasaravalli added.
