Single-window clearance for film shooting mooted

Last Updated 17 June 2014, 19:22 IST

The State government is planning to introduce a single-window system for granting permissions to film shooting in the State, Information Minister R Roshan Baig said on Tuesday.

Addressing reporters after holding a meeting with officials of Transport, Forest, Information and Home departments in this regard, he said that the plan is to adopt the Switzerland model for giving permissions. Under the model, permission is accorded online and applicants are not made to run from pillar to post.

The proposal will be finalised after consulting the chief minister, he added.

Speedy clearance of applications seeking permission for film shooting will help also promote tourism in the State. “Bangalore once used to be a hub of film shooting activities of all languages. But, not many are now ready to shoot in the City due to the cumbersome procedure in obtaining the permission. Hence, it has been planned to introduce the new system,” Baig said.

Currently, there is a ban on film shooting at the Vidhana Soudha, the High Court, Lalbagh and other places. The department is contemplating lifting this ban and allow shooting on holidays, Baig said.
