Apollo Hospitals at loggerheads with medical college over logo

Last Updated 23 September 2010, 14:57 IST

The hospital, in a legal notice to the college, has accused it of misusing its logo, registered under the Trademark Act.

It said DD Medical College and Hospital was using a logo deceptively/confusingly similar to Apollo's trademark, infringing Apollo's rights.

This amounted to breach of the TradeMarks Act 1999, it said and urged DD Medical College and Hospital to stop advertising, using the infringing mark and desist from doing anything further that infiringes its right.

However, the college has denied the charge saying its logo was entirely different from that of Apollo.

College chairman T D Naidu said the Apollo Logo has a burning torch on top, while theirs has a cobra without torch.
