Kulletira Cup: 12 teams move ahead

As many as 12 teams entered the next round of the Kulletira Cup Hockey Tournament, held at Cheriyaparambu in Napoklu, on Tuesday.

Mekerira notched up a victory against Muchoora 2-0, with Nihal and Arjun scoring the goals for the team.

Lalan and Reethu scored the goals for Karthamada, which also blanked Palangetira 2-0.

Kannanda edged past Pattamada 5-1.

Chodumada steam-rolled Kalachanda 4-0 in a lop-sided match. Nikhil Kaverappa, Biddappa, Jeevan Belliappa, and Harsha Ayyanna scored one goal each.

Close finishes

In a thrilling match between Mukkateera (Bhethri) and Ponnachettira, Ponnachettira beat Mukkateera 3-2. Bhajan, Ponnanna and Hemanth scored for Mukkateera while Divin and Vivek scored goals for Ponnachettira.

Theethira won against Kekada 5-3 in tie-breaker. Madappa, a 70-year-old player in the Theethira team, was the centre of attraction.
