Protest after denial of ticket to Gayathri Shanthe Gowda

The supporters of KPCC General Secretary Gayathri Shanthe Gowda laid siege to the Congress office and broke the chairs as she was denied ticket to contest the election from Chikkamagaluru constituency.

The protesters took out a procession from Azad Park Circle to the DCC office and locked the office for some time to express their displeasure.

When DCC President Dr D L Vijaykumar entered the DCC office, the protesters followed him.

They gheraoed the DCC president and demanded ticket for Gayathri Shanthe Gowda.

The protesters removed the name board of the presidents and broke the chairs as well.

Vijaykumar tried to pacify the protesters and prevent further damage.

Congress leader Hiremagaluru Puttaswamy said Gayathri had worked for the party for the last several years.

She has developed a good network in villages and has been responding to the woes of the people. The high command should review its decision, he said.
