Short film ‘Banna’ to create awareness on harmony

The students of Mass Communication and Journalism of Mangalore University, under the banner of StoryBoard Creations, have created a short film “Banna” to create awareness on communal harmony. The film will be released, on May 24.

At a time when the society is divided on the basis of caste and religion, the movie aims at creating awareness on communal harmony among the children.

The short film has been produced by including children of Pilar Higher Primary School, at the school. The team has worked for five days to produce the six-minute movie.

According to the team, “At a time when private schools have started the schools on the lines of caste, there is a danger of students being misled at the school level itself. To spread the message of harmony, we selected a government school, where children from all backgrounds study under one roof.”

The short movie revolves around how an attempt is made to bring in a rift among the friends and how they tackle it.

The short film aims at highlighting the need for communal harmony.

The cast comprises Akshatha Salian, Pradwin, Padmanabh, Dhanush and Punith. Tejas Gatti has written the story, while Kaushik K S has written the dialogue and directed the film. Chandru Bhanapur is the assistant director. Nikhil Rao Kumpala is behind cinematography. Nithish P Baindoor has clicked the still photographs. Aboobakker Siddiq is the producer of the short film.

In the past, under the banner of StoryBoard Creations, the students had released short films like “Wi-fi Bhikshuka,” “February 14” and “Bhavishya” on Youtube.
