The Union budget is the most desperate budget and is totally against the hopes of the people, Congress district unit president Janardhan Thonse said.

Thonse told media here, on Friday, that budget lacks any initiative to eliminate the unemployment problem.

However, Zilla Krishika Sangha President Ramakrishna Sharma Bantakallu lauded the budget and said that it was an outstanding budget which had offered many incentives for farmers and people in rural areas.

He said, “Farmers will get financial assistance of Rs 6,000 in three installments. The Rs 3,000 pension offered to the labourers in rural areas is another lucrative factor. The distribution of free LPG connections to nearly eight crore people, coming under BPL, in rural region is also a good move,” he added.

Udupi Chamber of Commerce President Srikrishna Kodancha said the budget was based on the theme of “Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas.”

He said that the budget caters to the needs of the people belonging to all categories in the society.

District Charted Accountant Association President Surendra Nayak said that the budget was indeed good with various incentives announced to help the poor and farmers. “What is required is effective implementation.”
