Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 | Kejriwal announces free healthcare scheme for senior citizens ahead of polls

'Today, I am announcing Sanjeevani Yojana for the senior citizens. In this, people above the age of 60 years will get free healthcare. We will introduce this scheme after Delhi Assembly elections,' he said.

New Delhi: Days after launching a Rs 1,000 per month cash transfer scheme for women and promising to increase it to Rs 2,100 per month after elections, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced 'Sanjivini Yojana' or free treatment for elderly if his party returns to power.

Under this, he said Delhi’s senior citizens will receive treatment in private or government hospitals at no cost as all expenses would be borne by the government without any income or socio-economic restrictions.

"Your son Kejriwal takes full responsibility for keeping Delhi’s senior citizens healthy. In return, we only seek blessings of all elderly citizens," Kejriwal said while Chief Minister Atishi said they would implement the scheme after the elections.

"We have the utmost respect for our elders. It is because of you that we exist today. You are the ones who have brought our nation to where it is today. You worked tirelessly, day and night, shedding blood and sweat to raise your families, uplift society, and advance the country. Now, in your old age, it becomes our duty, as your children, to take care of you," he said.

He said there will be no restrictions based on BPL, APL, TPL, or RPL categories and everyone’s treatment, whether for the rich or the poor, will be provided free of cost. There will be no upper limit on the expenses, he said adding, whatever the cost of treatment, the Delhi government will bear it entirely.

He said the registration for this scheme would start within 2-3 days. Volunteers from the AAP would visit your homes to complete the registration and provide you with a card, he said.
