In what comes as a big relief, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has recovered from cancer.

The 61-year-old Sanju Baba, as he is popularly known, took to social media to announce that he has recovered.

He shared the news on the day his twin kids Shahraan and Iqra turned 10 on Wednesday.

“Happy to come out victorious from this battle,” he said.

For the son of legendary Bollywood actor-couple Nargis and Sunil Dutt, the health issue had been yet another setback in his life.

“The last few weeks were a very difficult time for my family and me. But as they say, God gives the hardest battles to his strongest soldiers. And today, on the occasion of my kids’ birthday, I am happy to come out victorious from this battle and be able to give them the best gift I can—the health and well-being of our family,” he said.

Thanking family, friends and fans, Sanju wrote: “I am grateful to the source of strength through this trying time… thank you for love, kindness, and the countless blessings that you have sent my way.”

Thanking the hospital, he said: “I am especially grateful to Dr Sewanti and her team of doctors, nurses, and the medical staff at Kokilaben Hospital who have taken such good care of me in the last few weeks. Humbled and grateful."

Dutt was hospitalised on August 10, when he was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Dutt, a veteran of over 100 films, lost his mother Nargis Dutt to cancer and first wife Richa Sharma to a brain tumour in 1996.
