Ilaiyaraja's Top 10 Kannada Playlist

Lovers of Kannada film music are among those rejoicing at the Padma Vibhushan awarded to music composer Ilaiyaraja.

He is one of three receiving the second highest civilian honour in 2018.

Although a majority of his films are in Tamil, Ilaiyaraja has also created hit scores in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.

His association with the Kannada film industry goes back to the 1970s, when he used to assist G K Venkatesh.

Venkatesh was a major composer in an era dominated by Rajkumar.
