Group clash: 10 arrested

The police arrested 10 persons after two groups clashed over the issue of illegal slaughter of a cow at Kadambu in Vittal police station jurisdiction on Saturday night.

The arrested are PFI leader Abdul Azeez (34), a resident of Kadambu, Jaya Kottary (33), a Bajrang Dal leader from Radukatte, Dhananjay (30), a resident of Balugodu, Yathish Shetty (26), a resident of Kapukodi, Abdul Majeed (23), Ashraf (23), Ummar Farooq (23), Ismail (23), Ansar (23) and Iqbal (24) all residents of Kadambu.

Acting on a tip-off that a cow was being slaughtered illegally, members of Hindu fringe groups visited a house, where two buffaloes were found tied, at Kadambu in Vittal. As news spread like a wildfire, people from both the communities gathered at the house leading to heated argument and clash. The police, who rushed to the spot, registered a case against 40 people.
