<p>New Delhi: Congress on Monday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of setting up a "factory of jumlas" in Assam with Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma playing the "mastermind", claiming that the BJP-led dispensation was indulging in corruption.</p><p>As Modi headed for a two-day Assam visit, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge claimed the people of Assam were angry at the BJP and would elect the Congress to power in a year's time.</p><p>"Modi-ji has set up a factory of 'jumlas' in Assam, whose mastermind is the most corrupt chief minister of the BJP. Recently, Congress leaders in Assam were attacked both ways -- politically and physically. The public will respond to these attacks by forming a Congress government after one year," he said. Assembly elections in Assam are due in 2026.</p>.PM Modi on two-day visit to Assam from February 24: Himanta.<p>Assam is "suffering the consequences of corruption, hatred and misgovernance by the land mafia of the BJP", he said adding, youth unemployment, troubles faced by tea garden workers, rebuke of the Supreme Court on the issue of illegal foreigners and the BJP's hypocrisy are well-known.</p><p>"The 3.5 crore people of Assam are extremely angry, no slogan of Modi-ji can soothe their anger now. Change is certain in Assam and the northeast," he added.</p><p>Separately, Congress General Secretary and Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh asked whether the Prime Minister is aware of allegations of Sarma's relatives grabbing land and tea gardens through threat, his wife running a resort in elephant corridor and allowing rat hole mining.</p><p>"It is 'Modi ke Saath, Himanta ka Vikas' (Himanta's development with the help of Modi)," he said.</p><p>Congress Lok Sabha Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi said the BJP is running a "factory of lies" and the "Prime Minister is the 'sardar' (master) of these lies". </p><p>A statement issued by the Congress said, "among the 3.5 crore people of Assam, there is now a phrase which has become very common – wherever you throw a ball, the ball will fall in the land grabbed by a BJP leader."</p><p>"Corruption has become a way of life under Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Govt – who is being anointed by the people as the ‘Most Corrupt CM in the country’! Unemployment is at its peak. Assam’s economy is in a deep crisis. Law and Order is practically dead. Law is only being used to selectively target political opponents. BJP’s hypocrisy in dealing with illegal immigration has completely been exposed," it added.</p>
