<p>New Delhi: Bypolls to five Assembly seats in four states, including one each in West Bengal and Kerala where state elections are due next April-May, will be held on Thursday as Opposition parties Congress, <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/aap">AAP</a>, <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/trinamool-congress">Trinamool Congress</a> and CPI(M) will be fighting against each other while taking on the BJP.</p><p>The counting of votes will be held on June 23 for two seats -- Kadi and Visavadar -- in Gujarat, Ludhiana West in Punjab, Nilambur in Kerala and Kaliganj in West Bengal. The seriousness in Congress camp was seen when it brought Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for campaigning in the last leg though the top Congress MP usually does not campaign in bypolls.</p><p>Anwar, who joined Trinamool Congress after coming out of the LDF attacking Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and initially announced that he would not contest the polls, is in fighting polls after his talks with Congress on entry into UDF did not materialise. Technical issues also prevented him from getting Trinamool symbol, forcing him to contest as an independent while BJP has fielded a Christian candidate.</p><p>Punjab's Ludhiana West is also witnessing a keen contest with AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora in fray to ensure that the Arvind Kejriwal-led party does not start losing the plot in Punjab, months after Delhi debacle. Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann extensively campaigned for the bypolls, which was necessitated by the death of AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi.</p><p>Trinamool Congress too would be looking for a victory in Kaliganj where its MLA Nasiruddin Ahmed had died. Trinamool has been insisting that it was the only party in the I.N.D.I.A. bloc that had not entered into any electoral understanding or alliance with Congress and it would remain so.</p>
