Delhi Rains: Heavy rain brings the city to its knees

Delhi was hit by intense rainfall on Tuesday morning, leading to severe waterlogging and traffic delays across the city. Areas like ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Naraina, Patel Nagar, Vijay Chowk, Jangpura, and Rohini were among the worst affected during the morning rush hour.

Heavy rains lashed Delhi-NCR on Tuesday morning, causing waterlogging followed by traffic jams during the rush hour.

Under a 'red alert' warning, heavy rain flooded key areas like ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Naraina and RK Puram, turning streets into rivers.

The heavy downpour in the morning rush hour led to traffic disruptions in many areas.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded eight mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Tuesday.

According to the regional Met Centre, the ongoing rain spell is expected to continue till August 3.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and surface winds with speeds reaching 30 to 40 kmph.

A 'red alert' has been issued for eastern NCR, while the rest of the region remains under a 'yellow alert'.
