Bengaluru sub-inspector killed after being hit by KSRTC bus

Bengaluru: A police sub-inspector from Bengaluru was killed when a city-bound KSRTC bus crashed into him near Kaggalipura, in Ramanagara district, on Monday morning, officials said. The bus later fell into a drain in that momentum.

The incident occurred around 11.30 am near the Kaggalipura police station on Kanakapura Road.

Three people are seriously injured, while at least 10 passengers sustained minor injuries, the police said. 

Nagaraj, who was a PSI working at the Electronics City traffic police station, was travelling towards the city in the morning on his scooter. 

According to the police, the bus driver lost control and crashed into the median, before going over it and onto the traffic on the opposite lane. The bus mowed down two other motorcycles, before toppling over and falling into the drain. 

Nagaraj’s daughter, who was riding pillion, also sustained severe injuries. She is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The two other commuters on a bike were admitted to Victoria Hospital, the police said. 

The driver has been detained and investigation is underway.
