<p>Citing the rising problems in coastal Karnataka, Justice A S Bopanna orally observed that the need of the hour is for the police to build a sense of confidence and security in the public.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The observations came on Monday during the hearing of a petition regarding the missing case of a city-based software engineer Ajitabh Kumar.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Kumar went missing on the evening of December 18 along with his car, which he had planned to sell on OLX - an online classified portal.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Ashok Kumar Sinha, the father of the 29-year-old techie, had moved the court seeking directions to transfer the case to Central Bureau of Investigation as the police have been unable to get any lead in the case.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Kumar is suspected to have been abducted from the city.</p>.<div>The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) submitted that the department had formed eight teams comprising 80 officers to investigate the case. The officer also produced a status report which had details of the measures taken from the day the complaint was filed.<br /><br /></div>.<div>However, they did not have any concrete results to show.</div>.<p class="bodytext">Justice Bopanna asked the DCP to provide concrete findings in the case by January 16.</p>.<div>The court asked the government to investigate the case.<br /><br /></div>.<div>The bench also orally observed that a lot of petitions had been filed requesting handing over of cases to the CBI, thus questioning the efficiency of the department.</div>
