Zero tolerance for misbehaviour on bus: BMTC

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) said it was "deeply concerned" over a viral video showing an elderly man allegedly misbehaving with a woman passenger on a BMTC bus. 

The incident reportedly occurred on a bus (KA51 F 6204) plying on the 276/22 route near Vidyaranyapura around 3.30 pm on Monday. 

The video shows the man placing his left hand on the next seat, where the woman is seated, and trying to poke his fingers. DH could not independently verify the video. 

The BMTC stated that while the woman involved had not yet filed an official complaint, it had taken cognisance of the incident and urged passengers to report any suspicious or inappropriate behaviour so that necessary action can be taken immediately. 

The BMTC said that passengers can contact its helpline 080-22483777 (in both English and Kannada) to report such incidents.

A dedicated round-the-clock control room will assist passengers in distress.
