Advocate and former president of Mangaluru Bar Association (MBA) S P Chengappa demanded a CBI enquiry into the untimely death of IPS officer Dr Madhukar Shetty.

Chengappa told mediapersons at Patrika Bhavan on Tuesday that Madhukar died at the Continental Hospital in Hyderabad on December 28, 2018. He was only 47 years old. According to an allegation, when Madhukar was admitted to the hospital following heart-related ailment, he was treated for H1N1.

Chengappa recollected that a senior minister in the state government had insisted on an enquiry into the sudden death of Madhukar. Following allegations of foul play, the state government had set up a committee to submit a report on Madhukar Shetty’s death.

The committee which includes Dr Deviprasad Shetty and Dr P G Girish is likely to submit the report in a few days.

As there is much speculation about the death of Madhukar Shetty, a CBI enquiry should be initiated and the state government of Telangana should cooperate with state government in the enquiry, Chengappa said and urged the government to name the police training institution after Dr Madhukar Shetty.

Advocates Kishore D’Silva, Vijay Mahantesh N Hiremath and Pramod Kumar were also present in the press meet.
