Farmer gets Ramagovinda award

Kamegowda, a nature conservationist and, a farmer has been selected for the Ramagovinda award, constituted by Ramabai Charitable Foundation and M Gopinath Shenoi Charitable Trust of Mysuru.

The award ceremony will be held at Kalamandira on January 28, 2018. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh and a memento.

Kamegowda is known for his nature conservation activities and has built channels on Kundani hill, Malavalli taluk.

Speaking to DH, the 78-yr-old Kamegowda said, according to the epic Mahabharatha, Dharmaraya had called upon the people to build lakes and channels. Accordingly, I have built seven check dams and channels on the hill. "I will be happy to get the award, which would motivate me to get involved more for conserving nature," he added.
