Two persons from Andhra Pradesh were arrested on Thursday for allegedly carrying 140 kg of ganja, worth Rs 14 lakh, in their car.
The arrested have been identified as Chiranjeevi Adaparaddi (28) of Jankipuram in Visakhapatnam, and Chandrashekhar Umari (25) of Ananthasagar in Medak district. The police have seized their car and 65 bundles of ganja (140 kg).
“The car was waylaid near Mahadev Girani Mill Cross on Karwar Road on Thursday morning. Ganja was being transported from Hyderabad to coastal cities in Karnataka and Goa. The accused had sprayed perfume on the bundles, and further investigation is on,” Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Ravindra Prasad said.
