Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar has clamped prohibitory orders around five kilometres of Hunsur town, ahead of Hanuma Jayanti celebrations on Saturday.

The prohibitory orders will be in place from 6 pm on Friday till 12 midnight on Saturday.

The members of Hanuma Jayanthyotsava Samiti have organised a grand procession in the town on Saturday. The prohibitory orders have been clamped as violence erupted during the Hanuma Jayanthi celebration in Hunsur last year. The deputy commissioner has also banned the sale of liquor on these two days.

In Mysuru, Hanuma Jayanti was celebrated with religious fervour on Thursday. Several rituals, special pujas, were organised at Anjaneya temples. A host of cultural programmes were organised at the temples as part of the celebrations.
