The Karnataka High Court has issued notice to the state government while hearing a batch of appeals challenging election for the post of president/vice president and ward-wise reservation of five Urban Local Bodies (ULB).

Three appeals have been filed challenging the reservation to the post of president/vice president of three ULBs - Koppal, Sindhanur and Gurmatkal while the other two appeals have been filed challenging the ward-wise reservations of the ULBs of Magadi and Kanakapura.

The appeals have been filed challenging the single bench order directing the state government to rework the reservation and rotation of seats in respect of 13 urban local bodies. In response to the appeals challenging the election to the post of president/vice president of ULBs, the court directed the state not to issue the calendar of event for election to the post of president until the next date of hearing.
