<p>Bengaluru: The Karnataka BJP named 23 new district party presidents on Wednesday, which led to furore as a section of leaders charged that this was done unilaterally.</p><p><a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/bjp">BJP</a> general secretary P Rajeev said the party had completed the "election process" of 23 district presidents. The party has 39 organisational districts.</p><p>"BJP follows a transparent manner of elections at the booths, mandals and districts. These elections are not held unilaterally. Presidents aren't picked in a whimsical manner. At every stage, the party takes a lot of precautions to pick presidents and executive committees. A dialogue process is followed before picking any individual to crucial positions by evolving consensus at district-level core committee meetings,” Rajeev explained.</p><p>However, BJP state president BY Vijayendra came under fresh attack by his rival faction over the appointment of district chiefs.</p>.'Bengaluru' word found in inscriptions older than city's 'official' foundation in 1537 by Kempegowda I: Researcher.<p>Former minister Kumar Bangarappa, a hurriedly convened news conference, claimed that the state unit had "violated every norm" to elect district presidents. </p><p>"They took shelter under the weak clause that booths and mandals, where 50% of the election process was completed, appointed the district presidents. Instead, the party should have completed the process 100% at the booths and mandals before announcing the district presidents," he argued.</p><p>According to Kumar, BJP national general secretary Dr Radha Mohan Das Agrawal was urged not to rush with the appointment of district presidents. "He (Agrawal) had agreed. But all of a sudden, we started receiving calls from districts that the party was all set to appointment presidents. This is wrong. We were neither consulted nor informed," he said.</p><p>Rajeev said that those raising objections to the appointment of district presidents can approach the party's higher-ups.</p><p>The list of 23 new district presidents does not include Vijayapura, the native of Vijayendra's arch-rival Basanagouda Patil Yatnal.</p><p>In a tweet, Vijayendra congratulated the newly-elected district presidents and wished them good luck.</p><p><strong>Parallel BJP team to meet on Jan 31</strong></p><p>The BJP's parallel team led by MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal is scheduled to hold its own 'core committee' meeting on January 31 to discuss fielding a candidate against BY Vijayendra for the post of the state party president. The meeting will be held at former minister Kumar Bangarappa's residence here. Recently, Yatnal said he was ready to contest the internal election. When asked if former minister B Sriramulu would attend the 'core committee' meeting, Kumar did not rule it out.</p>
