<p>Bengaluru: The state government and aided schools in the state will have a mobile-based Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven Facial Recognition Attendance System from this academic year.</p><p>The Department of School Education and Literacy has issued an order to this effect on Saturday.</p><p>As stated in the order, it is to get accuracy on the attendance of the students to identify regular absentees. The special software designed for this will be hosted at Karnataka State Data Centre soon, the order reads.</p>.‘At 22.2%, school dropout rate in Karnataka much above nat’l avg’.<p>For this purpose, a separate mobile application has been developed and linked to the Students Achievement Tracking System (SATS).</p><p>The system will capture the real-time data using the Advanced Vector-Based Facial Recognition Engine. The captured image of the student will be encrypted into a unique ID through the mobile application. </p><p>This AI-based attendance monitoring system will also provide accurate details on the government scheme beneficiaries at the schools, including mid-day meals and eggs. </p><p>Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced this in the budget 2024 and said the attendance of the children will be monitored through Nirantara, a face recognition technology system.</p>
