<p>Mangaluru: BJP leaders and members of Hindu organisations staged a protest against the failure of police to achieve a breakthrough in the PU student Diganth missing case in Farangipet on Saturday.</p><p>Diganth from Kidebettu had gone missing five days ago. The protesters demanded immediate tracing of the boy. As part of the protest, shops and business establishments remained closed for a few hours. During the protest, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police P N Yathish held talks with the protesters and said that multiple teams were working on the case. DK District BJP President Satish Kumpala said that ever since the Congress government came to power in Karnataka, Hindu leaders and BJP members had been facing security threats. He alleged that drug mafia was thriving in the Farangipete region.</p><p>MLC Kishore Kumar said that the boy's parents had promptly informed officials after his disappearance. "But, the police initially showed some negligence. As a result, even after five days, the student is not yet traced."</p><p>He criticised the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the state and said that the drug mafia has gone out of control. He accused the government of failing to curb the menace.</p><p>The protesters warned of intensifying the protest if the boy was not traced within two days. </p>
