<p>Madikeri: A 26-year-old woman from Boodithittu village in Piriyapatna taluk, died on Tuesday after arriving at the Kushalnagar Community Health Centre for a free laparoscopic <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/sterilization">sterilization </a>procedure. The exact cause of death is not yet known. The deceased is Shanthi.</p><p>District Health Officer Dr Satish Kumar said, "The deceased woman had come to her mother’s home in Madapattana. She had two children, including a two-month-old baby. She was one among 13 individuals who came to the health centre for a free sterilization procedure. As soon as she arrived at the surgery section, the woman became unwell. She was immediately rushed to the teaching hospital at Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences in Madikeri. However, she passed away enroute. However, the procedure was successfully conducted for all the other women, and they have been sent home."</p><p>Since 2009, no fatalities had occurred in sterilisation camps in the district.</p>
